Acupuncture treatment can take care of chronic hypertension without any bad side effects

Even though hypertension may be controlled by medication the side effects may be serious enough for the patient to seek alternative treatments. There are also those cases where medication does not work. Or the combination of meds stops working and has to be redesigned, often experimentally. Acupuncture treatment can take care of chronic hypertension without any bad side effects.

A patient I have treated before for arthritis but who has since moved south came to visit last month. She was back to see relatives but also to seek help with her high blood pressure which was alarmingly high: systolic at 180’s 190’s and occasionally spiked up to 210’s. The combo of meds she was taking had stopped working and her doctor had not been able to successfully adjust it. She came to get acupuncture with me and to consult with the physician who treated her before when she was living here. When she came in her BP was 184/125. I gave her my usual hypertension protocol, a number of ear points and a few body points. She rested with the needles for 30 minutes. Her BP fell to 119/58. Mind boggling! I immediately took her BP twice again to make sure the reading was correct and it was. This was an extremely dramatic drop: I usually see a 10 to 40 point drop in a treatment. In any case it confirms that acupuncture is an extremely fast treatment for hypertension: fast enough to be used for acute care. Now the obvious question is “How long will it last?” I treated the patient two more times within the few days she was here. Each time she came in with less elevated BP and acupuncture restored it to normal range. So it has a cumulative effect over treatments.
Another patient’s story gives even better evidence. she suffered from hypertension and glaucoma for decades of her life. She came from another country and back there she had over 20 operations on her right eye. Botched operations according to her and her family. In fact, she had hardly any vision left in that eye. Meanwhile she had glaucoma and cataracts in her left eye and its vision was diminishing. The glaucoma there was so severe that she could not receive an operation to remove the cataracts. She was highly intolerant of medication so she came for acupuncture treatment for glaucoma hoping that her left eye could recover enough to be operated on. So my main focus was treating her glaucoma but since her hypertension was probably a main cause I treated that too. Long story short, after four months she was able to have the cataract operation. Now she sees fine with her remaining eye. Her blood pressure has also completely returned to normal without any drugs.
