Acupuncture for Weightloss in Chicago

An effective acupuncture program for weight loss revs up the metabolism of the body, helps the patient deal with psychological and emotional issues and strengthens her resolve in following diet and exercise regimes.

Eating is a spiritual act. When we eat we are bringing in the outside world to become ourselves in the same way that we make contact with ideas, people and the environment. Digestion means being able to transform what we consume into something that benefits us and let go of the rest. The stomach, spleen and pancreas are the organs responsible for such physical, emotional and spiritual processing and transformation. Zen eating makes weightless easy:

  • Eat consciously: Slow down, take time to see, smell, chew and taste the food
  • Stop when the stomach is 70% full, leave 30% room for digestion
  • Eat only quality, nutritious food
  • Avoid all junk and packaged food
  • Be mindful of how food sustains our living. Express gratitude before and after each meal

Fibromyalgia

Western medicine admits that it does not understand fibromyalgia. The drugs that it offers injure the livers and the kidneys. In my practice I find fibromyalgia to be an easy condition to treat. Patients come in with a flare-up and leave feeling comfortable. With continued treatments the disease can be completely tamed without negative side-effects.

Any theory about a disease should be judged by the efficacy of the therapeutic methods that entail. An accurate understanding of a disease should lead to a cure. If not, most likely the understanding is incomplete or wrong and the paradigm has no merit. Many diseases are all-encompassing of the life of the individual. They can not be understood at the molecular level. Fibromyalgia is one of them.

The most touching thing a fibromyalgia patient told me was that since receiving treatments she had come to love her body.

Hand numbness

Here are two cases of numbness of the arm/hand that were resolved with only one acupuncture treatment.

The first case involved a 33 years old mother who just gave birth to her first baby seven days before. While she was pregnant she developed carpal tunnel in both hands. Conditions worsened and now she had no sensation in one hand and little in the other. She started to regain sensation as the acupuncture treatment proceeded. At the end of the treatment her hands could feel again. She was very happy and said: "Now I can feel my baby!"

The second case also involved a woman in her thirties. Many years ago she had sustained nerve damage in her right arm from operating a machine in a glass factory. She was now a professional photographer and had to carry and operate weighty equipment when she worked. In recent weeks she lost sensation in the fingers of her right hand. A similar treatment was given and she regained sensation at the end of treatment.

Stroke therapy

Acupuncture is an effective stroke therapy. I have treated many stroke patients with good results in improving sensation, motor abilities, speech, stability and depression. Improvements are sometimes remarkable even with the first treatment.

How does it work?

Scoliosis

Significant improvements can be achieved in straightening the scoliosis, and in the comfort and functioning of the body.

Allergy Attack

Allergens can be many things or everything. Suppression of the immune system and a restrictive lifestyle are the antithesis of a cure. Patients should be more able to embrace and enjoy life instead of avoiding it.

35-year old female suffering from an acute allergic reaction made an emergency visit to my office. The chief symptom was swelling of the eyes, the left side being more severe. This marked the onset of a pattern of allergic reaction she was familiar with. Her eyes would get swollen first, then she would experience brain fog, to be followed by excruciating migraines that would last through the night.

Acupuncture intervention was performed. The swelling subsided. When she left the office an hour later her right eye was normal and there was only slight puffiness in her left. The following day she reported that she had a good evening with no residual effects.
