Japanese style acupuncture activates and balances the body’s energetic system by shallow needling with very thin needles. Sometimes the needles don’t even penetrate the skin. Toyohari Meridian Therapy, for example, is a style traditionally practiced by blind acupuncturists. Here the needle barely touches the skin’s surface with no penetration. Sometimes a Teishin needle with a rounded point is used for the same purpose. Japanese style acupuncture is therefore ideal for children and people who are needle or energy sensitive.
